Yamaha XV1700 RS WarriorBob's XV1700 RS Warrior

Yamaha made a radical move away from the authentic looking cruiser to produce this real performance bike. To give a more direct running feeling and a sense of pulse, rigid engine mounts are used. The lightweight aluminum rear arm, the upside down front fork and the optimized rear suspension damping force ensure a high level of handling and stability.

Bob has owned this 2003 model for almost two years, in which time he has made quite a few modifications. Gone is the 'scud missile' exhaust can, replaced by slash-cut exhausts which he customised. He has also fitted a hypercharger (for which he fabricated his own air-intake), increasing torque and horsepower throughout without compromising handling.

The standard bars have been replaced with 16" apes and he has added a customised screen, new rear-light on the sissy-bar and replaced the standard rear indicators with led teardrops.

The 'retro-look' instrument panels glow neon blue at night as does the Hypercharger and engine with the addition of blue LEDs that Bob has fitted.

As with the Raider though, this cruiser is not built with a pillion in mind. The original seat is just one speed-bump away from sliding your pillion onto the Warrior's more than adequately wide rear fender! To keep the wife happy, Bob had the seat re-upholstered by Viking Vinyl and added a back-rest.

With less weight, higher performance, dual brakes, upside down forks and sporty rear suspension (and more ground clearance when cornering), the Warrior is more than just a cruiser.
